Poor Quality of AVI output

Using Captivate 4 and the quality of the AVI output is really, really, really bad.

All I want to do is upload demos to youtube. The AVI output is the only format in Captivate uploadable to Youtube but the quality is terrible. I've tried multiple codecs including uncompressed.

I have found the SWF to AVI convertors to be poor quality output as well. Is the problem with the AVI format?

Is there a way to publish as mpeg or some other youtube friendly format?

Poor Quality of AVI output

Hi there

A severe degradation in quality can also be caused by taking your bitmapped Captivate and rescaling it to force it into a smaller size. Perhaps you should test that. What is the final output size (in pixel dimensions) for YouTube? Perhaps try creating a Captivate sized identically to what you want to put on YouTube and see what the result looks like. That should be an indicator whether it's the CODEC or simple scaling that's causing the issue.

Cheers... Rick
