Can anyone tell me if PSE7 is...

Can anyone tell me if PSE7 is compatable with Windows Vista 64bit??I'm trying to prevent my system from continually crashing.

Can anyone tell me if PSE7 is...

PSE 7 runs on Vista 64 as well as on Vista 32, thought apparently Adobe does not officially support it.?See this FAQ for details:

Can anyone tell me if PSE7 is...

Thank you

I have Windows Vista Home Premiem 64 bit and cannot get the PSE 7 Editor to work.?I have spent 6 hours on hold and on the phone with Adobe support with no resolution to the issue.?I have tried everything the have suggested with no luck.?Adobe is supposed to be excalating my issue to the next level of support and will can me when they figure it out. They have not asked me if I have Vista 64 bit or not even after I told them I had a brand new computer. My computer is an HP Pavillion Elite e9120y desktop.?If you or anyone has any insite into what else I could do, I would greatly appreciate the help.

Unfortunately, there are many reasons why the PSE Editor might crash, and often it is hard to diagnose quickly the reason for the crash. Here are some steps you can take to try to fix the problem. Even if you think you閳ユ獫e tried some of these before, try them again, precisely as described here:

Thank you for your suggestion.?I tried these and still no go.?I don't know where to go from here.

Well, I just got off the phone with Adobe Technical Support and it was finally admitted that PSE7 does not run on Windows Vista 64 bit.?I now have software that I can't use. I was put on hold for over 30 minutes with customer service and gave up.?Will try again tomorrow.

That seems to be the response from Adobe regarding PSE 7 and Vista 64, though that requirement isn't written down in any of the marketing literature or the tech support database.?(There is a tech note saying that PSE 6 and earlier aren't supported.)?Adobe has a distribution agreement with Dell to sell PSE 7 preinstalled on Vista 64 Dells, and it's pretty shady that Adobe won't provide technical support to those customers.

However, for reference by others reading this thread: There have been many reports here and at ElementsVillage.com of PSE 5.0.2, PSE 6, and PSE 7 running just fine on Vista 64.?(I've tested it on Vista 64.) Annecdotally, there are no more problems reported with Vista 64 than with Vista 32.

I'm running PSE7 on Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit. It crashes if I try to print from the Organizer. Sometimes I can print from the editor if the photo was scanned into PSE7. Other times I can't even get the submenu that allows for acquiring a file from the scanner or files. The Print command stays ''grayed-out' and unavailable. It was suggested that I uninstall and create another Windows user name, then alter the register, but if that doesn't work then report back. I'm not about to fiddle with Vista and there are no guarantees if it doesn't work.

I got Dragon Naturally Speaking, latest version and I get strange error messages but it always works and is extremely user friendly.

PSE7 is the most user unfriendly program that I have ever installed. I might just admit defeat, uninstall it, and get the latest Paint shop.

I was assured that PSE7 would work with 64bit Vista.

I'd have a look at step #5 of this tech document as it involves printers.

You might also look at this doc which also involves printers.

Thanks for the suggestions.?I have tried everything in the documents, some with Adobe Tech support with no positive results.?Tech Support has given up on my problem, it appears.?I waited on hold for 4 hours while trying to contact customer service.?When they answered I was informed that since my software was over 30 days old there was nothing they could do.?I suggested that I get a credit for the PSE7 towards upgrading to CS4. I don't really need it at this point but I have to have something for the photography classes I'm taking.?Customer Service said I could purchase the CS4 at the student price.?I asked for a credit for the useless PSE7 I have and was told they would have to go the the next level of Customer Service for a decision and would get back to me.?I have not heard from them yet.?This is the absolutely worst experience I have ever had with with a software company.?I would not keep pressing except for being out the cost of the software that I don't have the money to replace and the photo classes only use Photoshop.

For what little comfort it may provide, Adobe senior management has acknowedged publicly that they have a problem with customer service:

This has been answered many times before, but my 2 cts for what it is worth...

I have a new PC with Vista Home Premium 64 bit, 6 GB memory, two disks, quad processor, MS Office Small Business, etc. I made a backup on my old machine to a USB disk of my 40 GB of pictures managed with PSE-7. I then installed PCE-7 on the new 64 bit machine and did a restore of the pictures. All worked first time without the slightest problem. I also installed much other software also without doing anything special concerning the 64 bits and without any problems.

Two other points possibly of interest:

- One can deal with iTunes loosing access to playlist items by exporting the playlists into an XML file and making a global edit of the file path names if the data strutcture on the new machine is different. One then imports the corrected XML.

- I bought a 2560*1600 30 inch NEC display and viewing good-quality digital pictues is amazing. The first time I have found an output device with resolution better than a tiny fraction of what is in the picture files. Colours are also excellent.

DRM,

Have you tried the editor portion of PSE7??That is what is not working.?Every thing else seems to work except the editor.?Every time you?try to edit a photo the program crashes (APPCRASH) and shuts down.?I wonder if editor works for you.

Indeed I have tried the editor. In fact, having climbed the Gross Gr鐪塶horn 10 days ago and taken a series of overlapping shots on the summit, I used the editor to make a 360 degree panorama, and this went very much faster than on my portable.

As I said originally, I have done nothing special to install or run any of the various programs I use, with the exception of a run-time version of a FileMaker Pro database which needs to run in Administrator mode for access control reasons. The only thing I can think of is that you may have a DLL which is incompatible. I never even switched off BitDefender (which is sometimes suggested) whilst I installed everything.

Thus, although it may not be much comfort, I can attest to having an existence-proof that both the Organizer and Editor of PSE-7 work under Vista 64.

Bon courage,

David M.
