Hi everyone,
For some reason when I opened the document I have been working on this morning the pages pannel does not show all of the pages in my book??They are all there - but the way they are displayed you cannot scroll down to the last 30-40 if you have it in vertical mode and if you switch to horizontal the ones that are on the furthers right of the pannel are not accessible.?Any thoughts on how to fix this??
It seems like I should be able to scroll down as I can in the above masters pannel.......but I cant???
Thanks!
Pages Pannel not displaying all pages??First, before you do anything else at all, make a copy of your file as a backup. You said ''Book'' but I'm thinking you mean in one file, not a combined file InDesign Book (.indb) project.
Now you need to test to see if this is a program problem or a file problem.
Are the pages still there? Can you choose them from the navigation box in the lower left corner of the document window?
Is this happening with any other documents? If you export this file to .inx (Interchange format) then open that, do the pages display properly?
If it's happening in other docs, or if .inx doesn't solve the problem, look at how to replace your application preferences here: Adobe InDesign CS4 * Setting preferences
Pages Pannel not displaying all pages??Hi Peter,
I am actually using a .indb format as I am making a book.
The pages are still there.?I can click between them or scroll between them in the main window (as you suggested).
The problem is only in the pages window/pannel.?Even there all of the pages are there.?But you have to drag the window around to change the orientation to see them all.?And you can never get them all in there.?Its weird.?Yesterday they were all there lined up vertically one on top of another and I could just scroll all the way to the bottom.?But now in a 123 page book I can only get down to 71??
Any thoughts?
When you use a book project, the pages panel should only be showing you the pages from the individual file you are viewing, not the entire book. Are the pages you can't view in the same file (seems so, just checking)? The .indb file is not what you are editing, per se, but rather the individual files you aggregated.
Same testing with .inx and prefs would apply to an individual file in a book.
Peter
I have only ever been working in one file.?SO all the pages should be in here.?And they are because I can see them...but its just really anoying having to resize the pages flyout window each time rather than just be able to scroll.
There must be a way to fix this.?DOes this sound like a preference thing??Could it be due to dual monitors?
G
It could be due to dual monitors. I've definitely seen where panel icons don't show up when I use the wireless overhead projector. I don't know what IT does to fix it, because they won't tell me for some reason, IT and their secrets huh.
See what settings you can tweak on the dual monitor if you can.
Just shut down and reset to using only one monitor....same deal....
I just cant figure out why they arent showing.?ANd why the page icons arent ligned up with the edge of the dialog box?

That happens me somtimes. Sometimes I need to reboot. Sometimes I need to reload the preferences for InDesign.
I think it's a memory problem, I've never tracked down why it does it though.
You can reset indesign preferecenes by holding down CTRL (CMD) ALT SHIFT when starting InDesign.
How do you reload the preferences?
This is really annoying!!!
Thanks for any help
Adobe InDesign CS4 * Setting preferences
tried deleting thos efiles........same deal......still cant scroll or see all pages at once........so annoying!
I also notice that at the bottom of the pages dialogue box there is no garbage can or ''new'' icon.?I thought those used to be there?
Thoughts?
Is it just this document, or new documents as well?
I just started a new document.........it does the same thing....
I've seen the pages panel/palette go bad, for all documents - resetting prefs fixed it.
Did you delete/rename the files, or use the keyboard combo on startup? If you used the keyboard, did you see a confirmation dialog about replacing the preferences? If not, it means you weren't fast enough on the keys.
when I hit ctrl alt shift nothing happened...........so i went in and deleted the file manually........but i only saw one of the two that were mentioned in the link you posted?
Windows or Mac?
Windows...
InDesing Defaults is in C:\Documents and Settings\%26lt;user%26gt;\Application Data\Adobe\InDesign\Version 6.0\en_US and InDesign SavedData is in C:\Documents and Settings\%26lt;user%26gt;\local settings\Application Data\Adobe\InDesign\Version 6.0\en_US\caches
You need to remove or rename both.
Success!!!!!
That seemed to do the trick.?Thank you soooooooooooo much for sticking with me on this one.?Very much appreciated
