How do you convert an 8 bit jpeg image to a 16 bit image so that I can work with photoshop?
Convert 8 bit to 16 bit?JPGs are 8 bit images; I don't think you can convert them to 16 bits.
However do you need to? Photoshop works on 8 bits as well as 16 bits. In fact in Elements many functions are not available in 16 bits only 8 bits.
Convert 8 bit to 16 bit?Yeah, you can't do that in Elements. You aren't missing out on anything anyway. Katrin Eismann terms this technique in her book ''Photoshop Restoration and Retouching'' on page 36 a voodoo maneuver. She states that this is a waste of time and that it doesn't improve the actual image information.
